Beliefs

We believe that God created all that exists; matter, energy, and time (Genesis 1-2).

We believe that Jesus Christ was God incarnate; that He was both God and man and the He was both Deity and flesh (John 1:1-14; Philippians 2:1-8; 1 John 4:2-3).

We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus through Mary and that Christ was conceived in her womb by the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1-2; Galatians 4:4).

We believe in the crucifixion and physical death of Jesus as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the world through the shedding of his blood (Hebrews 9:18-22, 27-28; Colossians 1:13-14; 1 Peter 1:18-20; 1 John 4:9-10).

We believe Jesus died, was buried, and remained in the grave for three days after which time he was raised from the dead by the power of God through the Holy Spirit (read all Gospel accounts; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

We believe in the Holy Spirit as God’s indwelling Gift to those who believe in Jesus; that the Holy Spirit has powerfully sealed our salvation through communion with our human spirit; and we believe in the testimony of the Spirit concerning Jesus through the written word of God, the Bible (John 14-16; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Peter 1:16-21).

We believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God and the only ultimate authority in matters of faith, ethics, and morality (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21).

Marriage, Gender, and SexuaLITY

Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct

The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of the faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline of the GracePointe Church of Christ as a congregation, our elders are the Church’s final decision maker.

Marriage Policy

Because God has ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and Himself, GracePointe Church of Christ will only recognize marriages between a biological man and a biological woman. Further, the ministers and staff of GracePointe Church of Christ shall only participate in weddings and solemnize marriages between one man and one woman. Finally, the facilities and property of GracePointe Church of Christ shall only host weddings between one man and one woman.

Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition of human existence. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Psalm 139.)

Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

“God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27 ESV). We believe that the term “marriage” has only one true, biblical meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 2:18–25.)

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2–5; Hebrews 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18–20; 1 Corinthians 6:9–10.)

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of GracePointe Church of Christ as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the GracePointe Church of Christ’s members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by GracePointe Church of Christ in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14–16; 1 Thessalonians 5:22.)

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19–21; Romans 10:9–10; 1 Corinthians 6:9–11.)

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28–31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of GracePointe Church of Christ
